BioDynamic Preparations

BD 500 – 507 and CPP — the living medicines of biodynamic farming

What are BD Preparations?

Biodynamic preparations are highly potentised, fermented substances made from medicinal herbs, animal organs, and minerals. They are used in homeopathic quantities to activate soil life, stimulate plant growth, and improve the quality of compost. Each preparation addresses a specific aspect of farm health — from soil structure to cosmic forces.

TNBDA produces and distributes these preparations locally, adapting the fermentation process to South Indian climate conditions for maximum effectiveness.

BD 500–507 + CPP

Spray Preparations

Applied directly to soil or plants by stirring in water for one hour (dynamisation) and spraying.

BD 500 Horn Manure
BD 500
Horn Manure

Fresh cow manure is packed into a cow horn and buried underground for 6 months (winter). The fermented result is a highly active soil stimulant.

  • Application: 25–30g per acre, stirred in 13–15 litres of water for 1 hour
  • Timing: Spray on soil in the evening — autumn/spring
  • Benefits: Stimulates root growth, activates soil microbes, improves humus formation
BD 501 Horn Silica
BD 501
Horn Silica

Finely ground quartz crystal is packed into a cow horn and buried in summer for 6 months, harnessing solar and cosmic light forces.

  • Application: 1g per acre, stirred in 13–15 litres of water for 1 hour
  • Timing: Spray on leaves in the morning — spring/summer
  • Benefits: Enhances photosynthesis, improves fruit quality, Brix values, and flavour

Compost Preparations (BD 502–507)

Six herbal preparations inserted into compost piles to guide decomposition and preserve nutrients.

BD 502
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

Fermented in stag's bladder. Regulates potassium and sulphur processes; strengthens the plant's ability to absorb trace elements.

BD 503
Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla)

Fermented in cow intestine. Stabilises nitrogen in compost and promotes healthy plant growth and calcium processes.

BD 504
Stinging Nettle (Urtica dioica)

Buried directly in soil for one year. Stimulates soil health, supports iron processes, and enlivens the compost with sensitivity.

BD 505
Oak Bark (Quercus robur)

Fermented in skull of domestic animal. Rich in calcium — strengthens plant resistance to fungal diseases and supports healthy cell structure.

BD 506
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)

Fermented in cow mesentery. Mediates between silica and potassium; helps the plant draw in cosmic forces and fine nutritive substances.

BD 507
Valerian (Valeriana officinalis)

Used as a liquid extract. Stimulates phosphorus activity and provides warmth to the compost — protective against frost and cold.

CPP Cow Pat Pit
CPP
Cow Pat Pit (CPP)

A TNBDA-adapted preparation made from fresh cow dung, basalt rock dust, eggshells, and BD compost preparations (502–507), fermented in an underground pit for 3–6 months.

  • Application: 100–200g per acre, stirred and sprayed on soil
  • Timing: Any season — especially before planting
  • Benefits: Activates soil biology, improves microbial diversity, enhances nutrient availability
